About Us

J.F.D. Tube & Coil Products, Inc. was founded in September, 1983. The company started in a 1500 square foot facility in East Haven, Connecticut with just three employees and several small coiling and bending machines. Within two years, J.F.D. had tripled its work force, moved its operations into an 8,000 square foot facility in New Haven, Connecticut and acquired a wide array of new machinery, tooling, and equipment. These investments substantially increased our manufacturing capabilities, and made us much more viable in our markets. J.F.D. was building a strong reputation for quality and service within the industry.

In March of 1986, J.F.D. Tube & Coil Products, Inc. expanded its capabilities to include A.S.M.E. Section VIII, Division I “U” and “UM” certifications for fabrication of unfired pressure vessels. This addition allowed J.F.D. to compete with larger companies on new applications. It also allowed J.F.D. to offer customizable replacement heat exchangers, cross referencing and duplicating the dimensions of many other manufacturers. Several years later, J.F.D. received an A.S.M.E. Section VIII, Division I “R” stamp to repair ASME code vessels.

In October of 1986, J.F.D. built a 15,000 square foot manufacturing facility at what is now our current location in Hamden, Connecticut. The increased production space allowed us to hold a large inventory of material and production capital, significantly reducing costs and lead times for our customers.

In August of 1989, J.F.D.’s facility was partially destroyed by a tornado. Despite the disaster, J.F.D. demonstrated its commitment to reliability and excellence by remaining open during the rebuilding process.

J.F.D. has been an aggressive force in its markets since 1983: continually expanding its capabilities with investments in new technology, production capital, and new product development. These strides help to keep customers’ costs and down times to a minimum. J.F.D. looks for new market opportunities while continuing its tradition of excellence and reliability. J.F.D. has turned down several buyout offers to insure that it remains flexible and prompt, something that larger companies can not always do.
